The Mediterranean Network of Regulatory Authorities was created on a proposal by the French Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) and the Consell de l'Audiovisual de Catalunya (CAC) in Barcelona on the 29th of November, 1997.
Its objective is to establish a framework for discussion and consistent exchanges of information and research on topics related to audiovisual regulation. It aims at strengthening the historical and cultural links between Mediterranean countries in order to address the common challenges raised by globalisation. Twenty regulatory authorities representing seventeen countries are henceforth members of the Mediterranean Network of Regulatory Authorities, along with two authorities having the status of member-observers.
Its ambition is to welcome any independent regulatory authority belonging to the Mediterranean area willing to take part in its exchanges.
