Seminar on Media Literacy, Malaga, Andalusia, June 25 2010
In order to implement the Declaration of intent concerning the protection of young publics and the fight against the violence in the media, adopted by the network on October the 2nd 2009 in Granada, the Andalusian Presidency has organized a seminar on Media Literacy in Málaga, on June 25th, 2010. The seminar registered a high level of participation from member authorities.
Mr. José Manuel Pérez Tornero, expert for the European Commission and member of the European Media Literacy Group, presented the work accomplished by the European Commission in his inaugural statement. The three following sessions were focused on experience sharing, thanks to the contributions of member authorities. In the first session, the representatives from the Moroccan HACA , and the Portuguese ERC explored the theme of Media Literacy - logic of market and protection of children. In the second session, The role of the regulatory authorities in the development of a civic and social approach of the Media Literacy, was debated by the representatives of the Catalonian CAC and the Jordan AVC. In the third session, the French CSA made a presentation on the following theme, Protection of children, Media Literacy, new uses, challenges for the regulators and the brodcasters. Finally, the Italian AGCOM and the Bosnian CRA presented their specific experiences in the field of Media Literacy.
